JUNIOR GOLF 2010

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The Junior Program is open to children and grandchildren of Class A, A-2, S, and C members and children of Class B members. Other relatives may be included if space is available after registration deadline. Guests are not eligible to participate. The Committee recommends your child having completed the first grade prior to the first day of Junior Golf. All Juniors under the age of 7 may ONLY participate in the 1-hole group. Juniors age 7 and over may qualify for the 1, 3, 5, or 9-hole groups based on their scores and the opinion of their parents and the professional staff. A parent, or sub for the parent, MUST be available two times during the season for each child enrolled. It is recommended that children in the 1-hole group have a parent / adult with them EACH week. Participants will be divided into groups (1, 3, 5 & 9 holers) based on age and ability, as determined by the committee and the child's parents.

JUNIOR GOLFER RESPONSIBILITIES

Dress Code

No jeans, cut-offs, tennis or short shorts are allowed to be worn.

Shorts must be no shorter than one’s own hand width above the knee cap.

No muscle shirts, tank tops, halter tops, or tee shirts are allowed. Boys must wear collared golf shirts, and they must be tucked in.

Children in violation of the dress code will not be allowed to play.

Parent/Walker Responsibilities

Parents are responsible for their own subs. A walker must be at least 18 years of age.

Walkers must keep track of, and record all strokes taken by juniors in their group. All whiffs must be counted. They must also sign and turn in the scorecard to the committee.

Walkers are responsible for proper etiquette, course care, and safety of the Junior golfer.

Walkers should get acquainted with the basic rules of golf. If questions arise, consult a Golf Professional.

Do not allow Junior golfers on golf carts.

A maximum of ten (10) strokes are allowed on the fairway. The ball must be picked up, placed on the edge of the green and putted. The score is recorded as 10+ putts.

Club throwing or temper outbursts will not be tolerated. Warn the Junior after the first incident. If the violation continues, report the problem to the Junior Golf Committee.

Parents are responsible for their child’s supervision while on the golf course.

Holes Played

* Actual holes played each week may vary based on course availability and size of group.

Junior Clinic Series

While the Junior Golf Program on Fridays focuses primarily on playing the game, the Junior Clinic Series would be ideal for those juniors looking to take that next step. With more personalized instruction, smaller groups and more focused students, we can help take their game to that next level.

Instructor: Jess Lewis, Asst. Golf Pro Maximum of 10 students per session.
